Meeting compliance requirements on defence and government fuel projects goes beyond product certification. Safety and compliance are embedded into our standards and procedures across the World Fuel Australian business. This extends to through-life support, so safety and compliance requirements are designed into systems and processes through the operational life of assets.
Our team designs within the IATA and JIG standards and ensures all fuel management and delivery adhere to these standards.
With ISO 9001:2018 certification and as an industry leader in quality control for hydrocarbons, World Fuel provides global leadership to industry peak bodies to guarantee the safety and certification of fuel products.
JIG / IATA Certified Operations
As an associate member of JIG, we play an active role in the organisation. Our Australian business includes JIG-qualified inspectors who conduct audits and facility inspections, helping confirm that operations are conducted to the required local standards.

World Fuel Compliance
World Fuel’s existing facility and any new expansions or additions of equipment would be designed and constructed in accordance with the following relevant legislation and standards (amongst others):
- Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) Part 91 – General Operating and Flight Rules;
- Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code (edition 7.7);
- Australian Standards 1940-2017 – The storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids;
- Australian Standard 1657-2018 – Fixed platforms, walkways, stairways, and ladders – Design, construction and installation;
- Australian Standard 1692-2006 – Steel tanks for flammable and combustible liquids;
- Australian Standards 2419.1-2017 – Fire hydrant installations – System design installation and commissioning;
- Australian Standards 60079.10.1-2009 – Explosive Atmospheres Classification of Areas – Explosive Gas Atmospheres;
- EI 1540 – Design, construction, commissioning, maintenance and testing of aviation fuelling facilities.
- EI 1542 – Identification markings for dedicated aviation fuel manufacturing and distribution facilities, airport storage and mobile fuelling equipment.
- EI 1550 – Handbook on equipment used for the maintenance and delivery of clean aviation fuel.
