Our sustainability approach
Operating responsibly in a changing world
The global energy landscape continues to evolve. As a company that operates across complex markets and supply chains, World Fuel recognizes its responsibility to conduct business thoughtfully, uphold high standards, and consider the environmental impact of how we operate.
OUR APPROACH
Responsibility begins with how we operate
Our sustainability approach is grounded in practical action. It brings together environmental stewardship, health and safety, ethical business conduct, and support for the communities where we operate.
Operating responsibly means considering environmental, social, and ethical factors in the decisions we make every day. Across complex markets and supply chains, we focus on responsible business practices while meeting the needs of the customers and communities that depend on us. As the energy landscape evolves, we continue to evaluate how emerging fuels, infrastructure changes, and new expectations shape our role.
What guides our approach:
- Responsible business practices across our global operations
- Consideration of environmental, social, and ethical impacts
- Support for the customers and communities we serve
- Ongoing evaluation of emerging fuels, infrastructure, and market developments
Our commitment to the UN's sustainable development goals
World Fuel is a proud signatory of the United Nations Global Compact and is focused on the following UN Sustainable Development Goals, which we believe best represent areas where we can have the greatest impact and will help guide our focus going forward.

Our commitments
Corporate responsibility beyond fuel
How we operate matters as much as what we supply. World Fuel’s commitments include health, safety, and environment, ethical business conduct, and support for the communities where we operate.
Our Code of Ethics and commitment to the UN Global Compact are part of that broader approach to responsible business.
SUSTAINABILITY RESOURCES
Explore the renewable options from World Fuel
Different operating requirements call for different fuel pathways. These resources provide more detail on relevant options across World Fuel markets.
SAF
World Fuel has participated in the developing SAF market since 2015, delivering more than 120 million gallons as availability and infrastructure have expanded.
Book & Claim (SAFc)
Where physical SAF is not available or practical, Book and Claim, also referred to as SAFc, offers another pathway for our customers’ participation.
Marine future fuels
World Fuel has completed more than 300 biofuel and HVO bunkerings, providing practical experience with the supply, logistics, quality, documentation, infrastructure, and vessel requirements associated with these fuels.
Find a practical route forward
Renewable fuel decisions start with your operation: where you need fuel, what you are trying to achieve, and which pathways are available.
