April 4, 2024 – HOUSTON – World Fuel, a World Kinect (NYSE: WKC) company, announces that the company and its affiliates have received Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and EU trader certifications from the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) System as well as CORSIA, Global, and Book & Claim certifications from the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB). World Fuel is now ISCC and RSB accredited in the United States, Singapore and across all locations in Europe where renewable fuel is sold. World Fuel plans to continue expanding its certifications throughout its global network.

ISCC is an independent, globally recognized sustainability certification scheme that verifies whether products like renewable fuels meet certain standards and eligibility requirements, such as the European Commission’s sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids set out in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) and the United Kingdom under the renewable fuel obligation, as well as the requirements for CORSIA eligible fuels set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). To obtain ISCC certification, organizations must undergo a rigorous process to ensure renewable fuels, like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and marine biofuels, are fully traceable, deforestation-free and supplied via climate-friendly supply chains. Through the ISCC certification process, World Fuel can not only ensure that the renewable fuels it distributes meet specific sustainability requirements, but it can also provide customers with the documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance.

“The ISCC certification system plays an important role in enhancing the traceability of sustainable attributes by providing a framework of standards which anyone in the supply chain can rely on to be confident in the status of renewable fuels,” said Mike Ranger, ‪senior vice president, supply – EMEA and Asia, World Fuel. “We believe that obtaining ISCC certifications is another critical step for us to accelerate the development of lower carbon fuel alternatives for our customers as we collectively strive to achieve decarbonization goals and targets.”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Like the ISCC, RSB has also established a sustainability framework against which it offers certification verifying the integrity of low-carbon products, materials and fuels. World Fuel is now RSB CORSIA certified and has received RSB Global and RSB Book & Claim certifications at its locations offering SAF throughout the globe. As a trader of RSB-certified fuels, World Fuel is one of the few logistics providers who can ensure the fuel is certified from when it is picked up at the producer’s gate to when it is delivered into the wing.

“We eagerly embrace status as a certified trader and our membership in RSB, collaborating with our fellow industry experts to contribute to the development of impactful decarbonization standards and policies,” said Brad Hurwitz, senior vice president, supply and trading, World Fuel. “As a worldwide provider and distributor of energy solutions, we’ve been actively advancing decarbonization efforts, expanding our range of supply services to encompass renewable fuels for aviation, marine and land transportation applications. RSB stands at the forefront of shaping decarbonization policies, and we’re excited about the opportunity to collaborate, propelling us closer to the shared goal of achieving net zero emissions.”

As a leader in the distribution of sustainable fuel products and services, ensuring the integrity and traceability of the products and supply chains is critical. Receiving ISCC and RSB trader certification demonstrates World Fuel’s commitment to helping customers reliably meet their decarbonization goals.
