Celebrating 20 years of UK Brokerage: From local consultancy to World Kinect powerhouse

For over two decades, World Kinect has proudly been at the forefront of energy brokerage in the UK, helping businesses navigate the complexities of energy procurement and management. What began as a small regional energy consultancy in Yorkshire, is now part of World Kinect – the leading global energy distribution and management company.

We look back with pride on our remarkable journey of 20 years of energy brokerage, evolving from local roots to becoming a trusted partner for businesses throughout England, Wales, and Scotland.

A decade of growth: From local roots to global energy solutions

In 2004, Orchard Energy was established with a clear mission: to help businesses optimise their energy costs and procurement strategies. By offering tailored solutions and expert guidance, the team quickly gained recognition in the industry, built up a roster of clients, becoming a trusted and knowledgeable provider in the industry.

In 2014, in our tenth year of business, we were awarded the Rising Star Award at the Energy Consultancy Awards, a testament to our rapid growth and dedication to client success.

In 2017, we made the transformative step of joining World Kinect. And, as part of World Kinect, our team gained access to enhanced resources, advanced technologies, and a global network of energy expertise.

Throughout this evolution, we have remained committed to providing the personalised service that our clients have come to expect, blending our local knowledge with World Kinect’s international capabilities. Today, we continue to go from strength to strength, serving clients from diverse industries across the UK while upholding the strong customer care that Orchard Energy was known for.

Our capabilities have extended by being part of World Kinect

By joining World Kinect, we’ve expanded beyond our regional roots to provide even more comprehensive solutions to our clients. With access to global energy insights, we help businesses stay competitive in an increasingly complex and ever-changing market.

Sustainability and helping businesses navigate their decarbonisation journey is also high on our agenda. This includes organising various streams of data, bringing together different stakeholders, and making sure sustainability plans succeed and build momentum over time.

While we now have the resources of a leading global energy company, we haven’t lost sight of the personalised service that was crucial to our growth.
We continue to offer customised energy, water, and sustainability management solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Exceed expectations on every request

“Since we began working together in early 2022, World Kinect has been an incredible asset to have on my side. They consistently exceed expectations on every request, even before we signed our first energy contract through the team.

Recently, they played a crucial role in securing new meter connections for our building extension. They are always available when I call, often at the last minute during a crisis, and they handle every situation calmly and professionally. The brokerage team truly are an invaluable asset for any business partnering with the World Kinect group.”
