Sustainable aviation fuel via Book & Claim (SAFc)
Add SAFc to your fuel procurement and aviation decarbonization strategy, even when physical SAF is
unavailable or impractical across parts of your operating network.
Expand access to SAF with Book & Claim (SAFc) Solution
Book & Claim(SAFc) gives operators a practical way to purchase SAF certificates (SAFc) for eligible activity without requiring physical SAF delivery at every operating location.
Physical SAF does not need to be available at every airport in your network for your organisation to participate. Physical SAF is delivered at an eligible location, and the associated environmental attributes are documented and allocated to your organisation under the applicable programme rules. This extends SAF participation to locations where physical supply is unavailable or impractical, while myWorld Decarbonize, chain-of-custody documentation, and specialist support help connect the purchase to your fuel-burn data, reporting needs, and intended use.
How Book & Claim (SAFc) supports aviation decarbonization
- Extend SAF participation across more of your operating network when physical supply is unavailable or impractical.
- Use a consistent Book & Claim (SAFc) process to coordinate eligible activity across locations or business units.
- Match physical SAF and Book & Claim SAFc to each location based on volume, timing, availability, and reporting requirements.
- Support internal records and reporting with the applicable chain-of-custody documentation, retirement statement, and certificate.
- Give procurement and operations teams a shared basis for volume, reporting, and documentation decisions.
Book & Claim basics
What is Book & Claim (SAFc)?
Participate in SAF without requiring the physical fuel to reach every aircraft or operating airport.
Book & Claim (SAFc) is a chain-of-custody mechanism that separates physical fuel delivery from the allocation of eligible environmental attributes. Physical SAF enters the aviation fuel supply chain at one location, while its associated attributes are recorded and allocated separately. This allows customers to purchase SAFc without requiring the same physical fuel to be delivered into their aircraft at every operating airport. Clear attribute ownership, appropriate certification, accurate records, and controls against duplicate allocation or claims remain essential to credible use.
Purchase process
Turn verified aviation data into Book & Claim (SAFc) certificates
Move from operating activity and fuel-burn data to a documented SAFc purchase.
Start by identifying the flights or operating activity, fuel volume or fuel-burn data, reporting period, and organisation that will hold the claim. A SAFc specialist can help determine the appropriate volume and purchasing route. myWorld Decarbonize calculates emissions from fuel burn and supports SAFc purchases through myWorld. Once the purchase is processed, the retirement statement and certificate provide the supporting transaction record and can include flight details, carbon intensity, delivery airport, and feedstock information associated with the physical SAF.
Physical SAF vs. Book & Claim (SAFc)
Choose the approach that fits physical supply, operating requirements, and documentation needs.
Physical SAF procurement
Physical SAF may be the right fit where supply, logistics, volume, timing, and commercial terms align. The fuel is delivered into the aircraft or local fuel system, and the documentation remains tied to that physical transaction.
Sustainable aviation fuel via Book & Claim (SAFc)
Book & Claim (SAFc) can extend participation to locations where SAF physical delivery is unavailable or impractical. Sustainable aviation fuel is delivered elsewhere, and its eligible environmental attributes are allocated through the applicable chain-of-custody process.
A combined approach
A combined approach can support a network with mixed physical SAF access. Determine the appropriate method for each route based on airport, period, volume, budget, and documentation
Plan for the intended claim before purchase
Define how Book & Claim (SAFc) SAFc will be used before purchase. Voluntary disclosures, customer reporting, Scope 1 or Scope 3 allocation, and regulatory programs may each require different documentation, claim ownership, and eligibility.
Why World Fuel
Connect physical SAF supply and Book & Claim (SAFc) purchasing through one aviation-focused process. World Fuel combines access to aviation fuel supply, myWorld Decarbonize, documented chain-of-custody processes, and specialist support so procurement and operations teams can evaluate the right approach for each part of the network. We make fuel supply simple in a complex world. When you need fuel, we’ll always find a way to be there. Reliability you can count on, locally and globally.

Book & Claim (SAFc) FAQs
Find answers about eligibility, documentation, calculations, and reporting before purchasing sustainable aviation fuel via Book & Claim (SAFc).
Provide operating locations or flights, fuel volume or fuel-burn data, reporting period, purchasing entity, intended claim owner, and purchase purpose. Include any internal approval, customer reporting, or regulatory requirements that may affect eligibility or documentation.
myWorld Decarbonize uses World Fuel’s proprietary fuel-burn calculation, including weather, aircraft specifications, and historical data. The emissions calculation applies a CORSIA lifecycle approach. A SAFc specialist can confirm the inputs and reporting treatment for your intended use.
SAF still has lifecycle emissions from production and transportation. Book & Claim (SAFc) allocates eligible attributes from a physical SAF transaction, but does not make a flight carbon-free or guarantee a carbon-neutral outcome.
How were my emissions savings from the SAF I purchased today calculated?
The emissions savings calculated on your certificate use the CORSIA calculation for emissions reductions found in “An Overview of CORSIA Eligible Fuels (CEF)”, published by the ICAO Secretariat. Pictured is the formula used in the CORSIA calculation for tank-to-wake Scope 1 emissions. Your emissions reductions were calculated using the IATA-recognized Fuel Conversion Factor of 3.84 for well-to-wake Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions reductions.
Discuss your Aviation decarbonization strategy
Determine how physical SAF, Book & Claim (SAFc), or a combined approach could fit your operating network, reporting needs, and procurement plan.
Provide your operating network, fuel-burn or volume data, reporting period, and intended SAFc use. A SAFc specialist can evaluate physical SAF, Book & Claim (SAFc), and a combined approach against those requirements and identify the documentation needed for the intended purchase and claim.
